Sustainable and affordable housing should be available to everyone.
High quality, comfort, net-zero performance, healthy materials, and smart home features — all of these should not be exclusive to luxury homes, but integral to modern homes reimagined from the ground up.
With the help of today's technologies and vision, we believe it's possible. Just like IKEA brought great design to the mass market, we aim to do the same with housing.
Autonomous house can live like a tree: collecting sun, rain and wind for existence, it grows, absorbing CO₂ and providing shade for other species, and in the end become a nourishing material for a new life.
We believe in autonomy — not just as protection from blackouts or a way to eliminate utility bills. As renewable energy costs continue to decline, autonomous homes are no longer just a dream.
They are becoming the most efficient solution for resilient, sustainable, and dignified living. Off-grid living means true freedom — whether in rural areas or cities.
It also opens up the possibility to design entirely new types of settlements without expensive infrastructure, dramatically reducing CO₂ emissions and addressing housing shortages at scale.
A house for a family. A house for you.
In early 2021, we realized that modern housing was deeply flawed — stagnant in innovation, environmentally harmful, expensive, slow to build, dependent on fragile infrastructure, and often made from unhealthy materials.
By the end of the year, we had a concept for an autonomous, environmentally responsible aparthotel complex — tied to 0.2 hectares of beautiful land we acquired near the Kyiv Sea, where we planned to build the first prototype.
Then the war began.
Blackouts, displaced populations, the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam — all made it painfully clear how vital independent, self-sufficient housing could be, not only for Ukraine but globally.
In early 2023, driven by urgency and inspiration, we began construction of the first prototype in Ivano-Frankivsk. Within six months, House 001 was born.
It became our living laboratory — a functional, modern, healthy, minimalist home designed for fully autonomous living.
Inside, we tested everything: solar and wind power, rainwater harvesting and storage, a composting toilet, natural insulation, a heat-pump-based HVAC system, ventilation with heat recovery, and more. Most importantly, we found a way to make all of this affordable and quick to build.
Today, it's live on Airbnb — you're welcome to experience it.
In 2022, we developed an experimental system for radical water and heat savings in the shower — inspired by the open-source ShowerLoop concept, but fully redesigned in our own implementation.
In 2023, we demonstrated this system at full scale during Burning Man in Nevada, USA.
We still plan to integrate versions of it in our houses — at least for heat recovery from greywater, and possibly for partial water recirculation.
In 2023, we received our first customer order: a fully autonomous, eco-friendly hygiene module, or Ablution Block, designed for off-grid living in a rural village.
It includes a shower, composting toilet, laundry and sink, solar energy, and rainwater harvesting — all in a mobile unit on wheels.
A real engineering challenge, now solved.
House 001 uses our proprietary A/C-to-Air-to-Water-Heat Pump Retrofit unit for heating, hot water, and cooling — an extremely cost-effective solution that makes autonomy viable for affordable homes.
These kinds of pragmatic innovations are central to our mission.
